ChatGPT is like a Xerox photocopier of the web. It scans the information available and compresses it, just like a photocopier compresses an image. But just like a photocopier, ChatGPT can degrade the information in a subtle way that makes it appear accurate, when in reality, it's not. It’s time to see ChatGPT for what it really is - a lossy text compression algorithm that uses different words to repackage information found on the web.

The good thing is that this is going to change with Bing's integration of GPT-3.5 which can quote and link exact facts from the generated answers.
