💻 Judge Makes History with ChatGPT Court Ruling
In what can only be described as a historic moment for the legal system, a Colombian judge has made history by becoming the first known judge to use ChatGPT in a court decision. Judge Juan Manuel Padilla Garcia had a court dispute to settle with a health insurance company, and instead of spending hours poring over legal documents, he opted for a more efficient approach. He used ChatGPT to ask the tough questions and included its responses in his decision, which was all wrapped up in record time.
While the use of AI in court isn't illegal, experts warn of its biased and unreliable answers. This court case raises questions about the use of automated decision-making tools in the justice system and if they reinforce inequalities. Is justice being served or just served up by a robot? 🤔
